This book presents very first insights from re-visiting the SHARE respondents. SHARE, the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe, is still a very young enterprise. In 2004, we started to paint a picture of the lives of Europeans aged 50 and over. Almost 28,000 persons in 11 countries from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean patiently answered our questions and formed the foundations of this ambitious study. We looked at their physical and mental health, their families and social networks, and their economic situation.
